Perpetua: At the Threshold 03 continues the narrative campaign set in a video-game-inspired world. The episode follows the crew of the Little Snail as they sail toward a small island in the Valte archipelago, seeking information about the White Lectern from the Luminaries—a faction that three player characters (Nicky, Elena, and Veile) have recently sworn oaths to. The episode promises both answers and potential encounters with new allies or antagonists.
The show notes include an extended in-world forum thread from the game's community, where players discuss theories about what lies behind a barrier on Nightglow Island. A user named FriendofNei solicits guesses before reaching that location, but another player (TheDiamondRanger) immediately spoils the answer, leading to forum moderation and banter about the White Lectern's etymology and significance. A moderator notes that 'lectern' derives from Latin 'lego' (to read/gather/choose), raising thematic questions about whether the White Lectern is a place of reading or gathering. The thread devolves into jokes about a young user's age and reading ability.
The episode is hosted by Austin Walker with performers Ali Acampora, Art Martinez-Tebbel, Jack de Quidt, and Andrew Lee Swan. Production credits and a substantial list of supporters are included, indicating a well-established show with community backing.
Verdict: A narrative RPG episode with solid premise and production backing, but show notes provide insufficient evidence of writing quality, performance, or whether the episode maintains momentum—stay near middle pending actual content review.

Show notes
Aloft above the sea, the Adventure Beckons and the staff of the Little Snail head towards a small island in the Valte archipelago. There, they seek information on the White Lectern from the members of the Luminaries—a group which Nicky, Elena, and Veile have found themselves newly oathed. What answers will they find in such a place? And will they meet a new ally… or someone altogether more troubling?

It's rare that I do anything like this but I'm curious… what do you all think is behind the barrier on Nightglow Island? At this point, I've been bouncing around the world, clearing up sidequests before I head there and (presumably) finish up the first disc. And please remember, we don't talk about anything in this thread that isn't already currently covered in my guide, so if you already went there, don't give me the deets!
TheDiamondRanger
Oh, it's the white lectern. It says so in the official strategy guide. What do you want to know about it?
xXZelgadyskXx
Diamond! Nei just said not to talk about stuff from after where the guide is! He wanted guesses, not information!
TheDiamondRanger
Ohhhhhhhh. I'm sorry. I meant,
SPOILER ALERT SPOILER WARNING SPOILERS COMING UP
it's the white lectern.
DoomTreeAnne
Diamond… Please give the forum rules a read when you get a chance. We wouldn't want another regular getting banned before Unforgiven is even back!
Anyway, in this case, I'm pretty sure the conversation with Doctor Cinnabar does already mention the White Lectern. So that part isn't technically a "spoiler" anyway. But what the White Lectern actually is… now that's a whole other story.
Now, a "lectern" is a sort of standing desk that you can read from, like when you read out loud at Church. That comes from the Latin (well, from the French and then the Latin) "lego" which means "I read." Except… It doesn't only mean "I read." It originally means "I gather" or "I choose." (I guess reading is sort of like "gathering" words, though I think that's more like writing!)
Anyway, that makes me wonder. Is the White Lectern a place where someone reads or where something gets gathered and chosen?

Diamond can't read the rules because if he did, he'd see you have to be 13 before you're allowed to post here.
TheDiamondRanger
ACTUALLY I'll be 13 next tuesday!
(This user was temporarily banned for this post. They will be unbanned next Tuesday.)

Sorry, I meant that Diamond can't read the rules because he can't read.
